О книге

At the Serbian Table was inspired by a simple question: what does Serbia really taste like? For Clémence Girin, Eva Juric and Alexandra Maljean, the answer was not in Belgrade. They had to hit the road. Between 2024 and 2025, three French friends crisscrossed Serbia through all four seasons — from the plains of Vojvodina and the western mountains to the south and east, regions rich in culinary traditions. Four journeys. Eight weeks on the road. 82 locations. 121 regional specialties. 125 people. They followed tips, knocked on doors and sat at the table with families, cooks, farmers, winemakers, rakija makers, craftspeople and passionate home cooks. They did not try to define Serbian cuisine but to discover it — plate by plate, story by story. The result is At the Serbian Table: a travel exploration of regional Serbian cuisine that brings together personal stories, photographs, cultural influences, illustrations, recipes and food and drink recommendations. The journey reveals a cuisine shaped by geography and centuries of cultural exchange. But the book is not only about food. Behind every specialty there is a place, a memory, a family tradition or someone who stubbornly keeps a craft alive. It is this human side of Serbian gastronomy — and the extraordinary hospitality the authors met along the way — that is the heart of At the Serbian Table.
